I'm an historian. My favorite period in history is the Classical period. I'm interested in any one who is interested in classical religions, history, philosophy, art, music, everyday life, etc. I do not follow organized Christianity because I believe t e real Jesus was lost before the diciple John finished his writings and certainly by the time of Tertullian and the Montanist heresy of the early 3rd Century A.D. Besides, the classical pagans are more fun to study! I'd like to know how you are doing fr m time to time. I suspect you suffer from Orthodox persecutions, as did the Gnostic Christians.

I am a Hellene living in South Africa. For many years I have been practacing the Old Religion on my own. Through extensive study of available books on ancient Hellenic Culture, Mythology and Archeology. Naturaly my belief has allienated me from the rest o the Hellenic community as they are all predominantly christian. You can imagine my exitement when I came across your site. Your site is interesting, but the comments from your guests, very polarized, in my view. The fact that I am a Christian, and believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour, does not make me any less Hellen, than anyone else. I respect your faith in the Dodecatheon, and I expect you do the same with my Christian faith. The Hellenic Spirit is mainly about spiritual freedom and thought, debate and reason, and not supression of other peoples views. Having said this, I better clarify here, that the way I understand Christianity, has nothing to do, with Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Protestandism, it is rather something that I feel and practice for my self.... Let's not forget, that our very own, Platon was not very far at all, from what Christ taught and passed on to people... Again my compliments for your site, and keep your love and adoration for Ancient Hellas, and it's spirit.

Great site. It's good to Pagan movement continue to march on. I must make a comment to Ricardo Daudt's entry on the guestbook however. Ricardo, I am glad you have been protected by Aphrodite, the more Pagans the better, but that does not make you immune f om criticising other goddesses such as Persephone. Read Hippolytus by Euripides to see what happens if you intentionally disrespect a goddess. Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld, but she is not evil or bad (this is a concept totally alien to Pagani m), she did not invent Christianity to spite us and one day all of us (including you) will have to bow before her throne in Hades. I am a lover of literature who recently returned to the university to obtain my degree. I found a mentor (in the true sense of the word, Athene in the flesh) who not only opened my eyes to the wonder of ancient Greece, but taught me Attic Greek as well. H mer taught my soul to sing, the pre-socratics brought revelation, Plato led me home. . . Alone, I have attempted to resurrect the Pantheon in my own soul; with what joy do I greet my brothers! And how right that it is in Greece that the flame still burns. All things flow . . .

i was delighted to discover this page, but disappointed that i do not live in athens and hence cannot participate in your activities. i have recently realized that i have a deep need to practice traditional hellenic religion, and find that i am of like m nd with most of what i saw on these pages. i have already been using the homeric hymns in worship and will look for your recommended translation of the orphic hymns. the summary of christian persecution of the pagans chilled my blood--even though christ ans often recall how they were persecuted by the romans, we rarely hear of what the christians went on to do to the pagans. may hellenic religion be reestablished in hellas, and may all the gods smile on you and favour your activities!

Hello, First of all, I, not a greek, write from Brazil to congratulate your resolution to recease in your country the real religion of the greek race - do not mind with the christians criticims - their Faith resumes to deny the other's Faiths ("crazy and useless is the man's knowledge", said Paul in one of his Epistolas, as his last and desperately argument against the logical truths wich greek philosophers and pagan priests used to refuse his theories about the Christ) Now, my so long-distance friends, let this poor barbarian in the other side of the Earth tell you a personal experience, a such special thing you are the only one in the world to understand: Exactly one year ago (12/05/1998) I had a very deep trouble in my life (it was an horrible night!); as my others experiences made me lost my faith in Jesus, Maria, or any christian gods, and I was desperate and very depressed in that moment, I decided to o a "crazy" thing: I invoked APHRODITE, and I prayed for her help, saying to her, among my prays: "If you were a Goddess 2400 years ago, you must be the same Goddess until today! And If you are really a Goddess, you will came back, and take me out of this hell!" Then, I went to sleep, and so, the myracle happened! I had a very lucid and realistic-seem dream where She appeared to me in the garden of my house, and we had a long chat (I do not remember any word), until the dawn fade in (the dream ocurred in real ti e). Few moments before the sun rise, She went away. Although I woke up thinking I had an allucination or I was going crazy, in a space of a few days, MY PROBLEM DISAPEARED COMPLETELY! Then, I picked up a lot of books to read something about Aphrodite. I got shocked when I red the "Iliade" of Homer, and I red there a physical and dresses's description of Aphrodite which was alike to the Person I chated with in my dream! Since this day discovered APHRODITE is a real Goddess. I am very thankful to Her for everything She had done to me this whole year along. She proved She is God, and I accepted her as my unique and suficient Saver. She did not had to born over Earth as a woman and die i a cross to save my soul from the eternal flames, because she IS the Love and the Life, and the Love and the Life will never die and will never be defeated by the darkness and death. I think Christianism is the way Persephone - the real Princess of Darkness - created to delude people and make lost souls into her Kingdon. Any person with a healthy working brain and some elementary information about Aphrodite will easily see that SHE i "the" Godess, because God is nothing but LOVE, LIFE, CHARITY and BEAUTY; where are death, blood and tears, there any not any God at all. I chose love, life, charity and beauty; let christians go on carrying their crosses until the Hell, we do not mind th ir criticisms neither need their hipocrisis anymore.

Coming upon your site was akin to having a dream come literally true. From a book in our local library, about 15 years ago, I came upon translations of the Orphic hymns, including the one with the litany of Deities: "Eros Protogonos," et al., and I had s me kind of *resonation* with these "bizarre" Gods (not my word, but from the Eliade *Encyclopedia of Religion*). I was especially enamored of Phanes and was delighted to see Him on one of your pages. Right now, I am working on a project as a magus -- tha of attempting to tap into the energy of Apollon and the Pythian Oracles. When I was at Delphi years ago, I felt this same resonation (and it did not happen anywhere else in Europe!). I suspect that I am metempsychotically connected with this city and i s Oracle, so, in a way, my attempt to invoke Apollo the Diviner is a form of past life regression. I will be coming back to your site often as it is a splendid one (no pun intended). --Kneph

Children of Hellas, the time has come to wake up from our sleep and once again come in touch with our true roots, our true history, our true blood. Today in Hellas a great percentage of our first names are not even Hellenic in origin. We would rather give our children Jewish names (John, Peter, Paul etc) than give them true Hellenic names. It's true that you have done very good job, creating those pages. Nevertheless the deontology would be respected if instead of informing the people (at the FAQ place) that you are "the only organisation existing in Greece", you also admited the existence of others, like f.ex. "The Supreme Council of the Greek Gentiles" as well as "The Ecclesia of the Hellenes" of Defkalion Vatimbellas. Don't you think that it would be more honest? On the other hand, an intitution which demands the enormous fees of the 10.000 drs a month (which makes thz sum of 120.000 a year!!!) for membership cannot pretend being a "non profit organisation". On the contrary it is very profitable.
